The casualty’s were transported to the nearby pub ‘De Welkom’ (later renamed as “Rust der Brikkenbakkers”) run by the couple Filip “Fluppe” Bultynck – Titeca. There the bodies were placed upon a bier. This pub was located at the junction between the Zeeweg and the Oude Brugseweg, opposite the old little church of Rokem. A couple of days thereafter the crew were buried with military honors at the communal cemetery of Westkerke.
